Report: Iran prohibits Telegram over terrorist fears
MOSCOW, May 3 (PRIME) – An Iranian court ruled to prohibit Russian messenger Telegram, channel Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported on Monday, citing a court statement.
“Terrorist attacks, including by the ISIS (organization forbidden in Russia), in the Iranian parliament and on the territory of the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini (in 2017)… as well as actions by adversary groups this January during a turmoil where citizens died or were harmed, and material damage was caused, most of the actions threatening the country safety were organized and coordinated by this messenger,” the channel reported, citing the court statement.
The government and state-run mass media were ordered to use Iranian messengers.
